sushi lhamo

"a translucent ribbon of noodle that embodies a mixture of Tibetan flavors and textures"
when it happened: august 17, 2023
where it happened: lhasa, new york
We stopped by this cute little Tibetan restaurant called Lhasa which was like a block away for brunch and we were pretty early. There was no one else and it was quiet. We didn’t know anything about the Tibetan cuisine so we went right off the bat with the descriptions and our mutual instincts. We got the Sushi Lhamo and it was really really good. Drenched in peanut sauce with some sort of spice that gave it the kick it needed. This was an appetiser with something along the lines of Pad Thai noodles for the mains. Forgot what it was called.
Memory highlights:
I landed in New York August 17th morning around 6 AM. Waited for my sister to land too and came to my new apartment around 9 AM. There’s no time to be jet lagged so I freshened up and we left to go to the bank because.. obvious reasons. We walked around a lot and we were overwhelmed with options. We wanted to try something different so we walked into Lhasa. We were on the same page of what we wanted to eat so while we waited for it, we went through a list of things we had to do for the rest of the day. Meanwhile, the food came and it was the first meal I had after coming to New York. Definitely did NOT disappoint. I mean forget sleeping, I had to power through. Surprisingly, I made it through the entire day and slept throughout the night so I moved from India to New York and didn’t suffer from being jet lagged AT ALL.
